Campaign, an initiative of Futures Without Violence, formerly Family Violence Prevention Fund, to support violence prevention and promote healthy relationships. During the "Month of Respect," Mother's Day (May 8, 2011) to Father's Day (June 19, 2011), Dockers® in partnership with the RESPECT! Campaign, is working to shed light on and bring an end to the widespread problem of relationship abuse.

Along with the $25,000 donation to the RESPECT! Campaign, which will help ensure boys have strong support and guidance to become thoughtful and respectful men of tomorrow through a program called "Coaching Boys into Men," Dockers® and the RESPECT! Campaign teamed up to create an informational video about the program, shot by award winning director Joey Garfield. Narrated by Brian O'Connor, Director of Public Communications for Futures Without Violence, this video highlights the mission of the program while honoring the positive impact that moms, dads, coaches, and other influential mentors have in helping boys and girls form healthy relationships and develop into responsible adults. The video will be accessible throughout the Month of Respect on Dockers.com, GiveRespect.org, Facebook and YouTube and will encourage people to take the RESPECT! pledge at GiveRespect.org, a public statement to renounce relationship abuse and create futures without violence.

"Dockers® has always encouraged men to be proactive about matters revolving around responsibility," said Jennifer Sey, Senior Vice President of Global Marketing, Dockers®. "The combined effort of Dockers® and the RESPECT! Campaign will inspire men to step up and use their influence in a positive way."

During the Month of Respect, Dockers® will donate an additional $2,500 from the Levi Strauss and Co. Red Tab Foundation as well as all proceeds from the "Games that Give" Facebook game through the remainder of the year to GiveRespect.org. Furthermore, Dockers® will be awarding six weekly $2,000 grants to Facebook users as part of their current "Wear The Pants™ Project" Man Grants contest. These grants will be focused on respect, -, family and community.

"The purpose of the RESPECT! Campaign is to support innovative educational programs that engage men and women from all walks of life in positive solutions to prevent relationship violence from an early age." explains Brian O'Connor. "We are so pleased to welcome Dockers to the RESPECT! Campaign and we look forward to engaging their customers in this nationwide effort to create futures without violence." Known for their provocative "Wear the Pants™" global marketing platform created in late 2009, Dockers encourages men to celebrate a new style of masculinity. This man blends accountability with sensitivity and leads life with conviction and passion.

About the RESPECT! Campaign

The RESPECT! Campaign is Futures Without Violence's, formerly Family Violence Prevention Fund, latest initiative to advance a national movement to promote healthy relationships and stop relationship violence through positive role modeling and respect education. Sponsored nationally by Macy's, the RESPECT! Campaign encourages individuals to help prevent and end domestic and dating violence, sexual assault, and other forms of relationship abuse by talking with young people early and often about respect, and modeling that behavior in their own relationships. Through conversation guides for parents, lesson plans for teachers, tools for coaches, and other instructional "Respect Tools," the campaign offers a variety of resources to support moms, dads, teachers, coaches, and other living, breathing role models who have critical roles to play in helping our sons and daughters shape a world that is free of relationship violence.

About Futures Without Violence

For more than thirty years, Futures Without Violence, formerly Family Violence Prevention Fund, works to end violence against women and children around the world, because every person has the right to live free of violence. Blue Shield of California has invested over $2 million to help us create futures without violence. Below are just a few of the ways in which Blue Shield of California has helped the RESPECT! Campaign and Futures Without Violence, formerly Family Violence Prevention Fund, spread the word about the importance of teaching respect in relationships to young people as a positive solution to end and prevent relationship violence.

Employee Engagement
In 2009, Blue Shield of California implemented an annual Season of Respect, by dedicating one week between Mother's Day and Father's Day to promote respect in relationships and educate all employees about the critical role that we all play as parents, teachers, coaches and mentors to the young people in our lives.

Highlights from Blue Shield of California's Week of RESPECT!:

Kick - off greeting from executive leadership

Virtual and Physical Pledge Wall signings throughout the state

RESPECT! Branded key charms sold for $5 (image: RESPECT charm)

RESPECT! E-cards sent to family and friends

Text "Respect" to short code 41010 to donate $5 to the RESPECT! Campaign

Public Awareness and Events
At Maria Shriver's 2010 Women's Conference in Long Beach, California, Blue Shield of California dedicated its exhibit booth to promote the RESPECT! Campaign and encourage thousands of attendees to sign our RESPECT! pledge to teach the young people in their lives about the importance of mutually respectful relationships. Each person who visited the RESPECT! exhibit booth received a RESPECT! charm necklace and resources on how to talk to young people about healthy relationships.

Founding Fathers
Each year since 2003, Blue Shield of California's Chairman & CEO, Bruce Bodaken, has made a personal contribution in support of our annual Founding Fathers campaign. Each Father's Day, Futures Without Violence issues a statement in the New York Times and lists men who are declaring their public support and investing personal dollars to prevent violence in relationships.

Futures Without Violence at the Presidio
Futures Without Violence, formerly Family Violence Prevention Fund, will mark a major milestone as we open our doors to a new national landmark, Futures Without Violence at the Presidio National Park. Located on the Main Post of this federal park, Futures Without Violence at the Presidio will be the first and only public place in the world that is solely dedicated to engaging the public - parents, teachers, coaches, and others who are influential in the lives of young people, as well as professionals such as judges, doctors, policy makers, and community leaders - in positive solutions to end and prevent violence against women, children and families throughout the United States and beyond. To learn more about Futures Without Violence at the Presidio, visit: www.futureswithoutviolence.org

Blue Shield of California is a lead investor of Futures Without Violence at the Presidio, specifically underwriting the Exhibit Hall which will feature a series of public exhibits that will utilize art, technology, photography, video and/or other forms of creative expression to increase awareness about the impact of violence and to encourage involvement in positive solutions to prevent and end violence throughout the U.S. and around the world.

Futures Without Violence, formerly Family Violence Prevention Fund will mark a major milestone as we open our doors to a new national landmark, Futures Without Violence at the Presidio National Park. Located on the Main Post of this federal park, Futures Without Violence at the Presidio will be the first and only public place in the world that is solely dedicated to engaging the public - parents, teachers, coaches, and others who are influential in the lives of young people - as well as professionals such as judges, doctors, policy makers, and community leaders, in positive solutions to end and prevent violence against women, children and families throughout the United States and beyond.

Macy's Cultural Kitchen
The Macy's Cultural Kitchen at Futures Without Violence at the Presidio is a truly dynamic entertaining and event space, equipped with a chef's demonstration style kitchen as well as dining and lounge room furnishings to accommodate special culinary and social events. The Macy's Cultural Kitchen will be a unique facility where we will "break bread" with individuals from around the world who share our vision for a world without violence.

For today's teens, digital technology is an extension of their everyday lives and their intimate relationships. However, these new digital technologies have created a landscape in which personal boundaries and ways to promote safety are far from clear.

Although largely undetected by most adults, digital dating abuse is a growing problem among teens. Digital dating abuse can include:

Unwanted, repeated calls or text messages

Privacy violations, like breaking into email or social networking accounts

Pressure to "sext" and send nude or private pictures or videos

As a parent, you play a huge role in helping your teen to understand how to recognize digital dating abuse. Begin talking to your child now. Here are some resources to get you started!
