Blue Shield of California
Blue Shield of California has invested over $2 million to help us create futures without violence. Below are just a few of the ways in which Blue Shield of California has helped the RESPECT! Campaign and Futures Without Violence, formerly Family Violence Prevention Fund, spread the word about the importance of teaching respect in relationships to young people as a positive solution to end and prevent relationship violence.
Employee Engagement
In 2009, Blue Shield of California implemented an annual Season of Respect, by dedicating one week between Mother's Day and Father's Day to promote respect in relationships and educate all employees about the critical role that we all play as parents, teachers, coaches and mentors to the young people in our lives.
- Kick - off greeting from executive leadership

Public Awareness and Events
At Maria Shriver's 2010 Women's Conference in Long Beach, California, Blue Shield of California dedicated its exhibit booth to promote the RESPECT! Campaign and encourage thousands of attendees to sign our RESPECT! pledge to teach the young people in their lives about the importance of mutually respectful relationships. Each person who visited the RESPECT! exhibit booth received a RESPECT! charm necklace and resources on how to talk to young people about healthy relationships.
Founding Fathers
Each year since 2003, Blue Shield of California's Chairman & CEO, Bruce Bodaken, has made a personal contribution in support of our annual Founding Fathers campaign. Each Father's Day, Futures Without Violence issues a statement in the New York Times and lists men who are declaring their public support and investing personal dollars to prevent violence in relationships.
Futures Without Violence at the Presidio
Futures Without Violence, formerly Family Violence Prevention Fund, will mark a major milestone as we open our doors to a new national landmark, Futures Without Violence at the Presidio National Park. Located on the Main Post of this federal park, Futures Without Violence at the Presidio
will be the first and only public place in the world that is solely dedicated to engaging the public - parents, teachers, coaches, and others who are influential in the lives of young people, as well as professionals such as judges, doctors, policy makers, and community leaders - in positive solutions to end and prevent violence against women, children and families throughout the United States and beyond. Blue Shield of California is a lead investor of Futures Without Violence at the Presidio, specifically underwriting the Exhibit Hall which will feature a series of public exhibits that will utilize art, technology, photography, video and/or other forms of creative expression to increase awareness about the impact of violence and to encourage involvement in positive solutions to prevent and end violence throughout the U.S. and around the world.
